Exchanging Organizer Adddresses with Google Contacts

Exporting Google Addresses to Google Contacts

You can export your whole Address book or a selction from it.

To export the whole address book:

"Start at" the first entry and "Stop at" the last entry in the Address book.

To export a consecutive range of entries:

Use the required "Start at" and "Stop at" values.

In the "Format" menu, choose "vCard3".

Drag and drop the icon to a directory to save the output file.

If you want non-consecutive addresses:

Middle-click on the Organizer page, choose "Categories ..." from the drop-down menu.

Add a new category called (say) "Selection".

Left-click on an address you want to export to bring up the Address Update window.

Click on the drop down menu to the left of the "In categories" field.

Click on "Selection" to add it to that category.

Click "Accept".

Add all the addresses you want to export in the same way.

Once again bring up the Export window and choose the vCard3 format.

This time, fill in the "Categories" section from the drop down menu with "Selection".

Save the output file by dragging and dropping the icon to a directory.

Go to Google Contacts.

Click on "Import", then click on "Select file" in the Google "Import contacts" template.

The Iris "File Selction" window will come up.

Drag and drop the vCard file you saved from Organizer into the Iris input window.

Click OK in the Iris "File Selection" window.

Click "Import" in the Google "Import contacts" window.

This will add/update your Google contacts

They will now be available other devices such as an Android phone.

Exporting from Google Contacts to Organizer

Unlike Google Calendar, you can export all your contacts or a selection.

To export all your contacts, on the Google Contacts page click "Export".

Google Contacts will automatically choose all or selected contacts.

Under "Export as", choose "vCard". It is the only format that will import into Organizer.

Click "Export" to download the contact file.

*NB Unfortunately, Isis cannot download from Google Contacts at the moment.*

On a PC or Android tablet, the file will automatically download to the Downloads directory.

You can then email it or transfer it to your RISC OS platform.

You may have to reset the file type (middle-click on the file) to vCard on your RISC OS machine.

On an Android phone, in Contacts you need to select the entries you want to export, then use Share to email it to your RISC OS system.

You can import the file in the same way as above. (Once again you may have to reset the File type to vCard).
